Summer@Potomac’s Nature Science programs are ideal for the young explorer, naturalist, and builder who enjoys being outside. Over thirty years ago, Nature Science Camp was started by science teachers in order to extend children’s knowledge, curiosity and fascination with the environment. Today, that same goal guides all of our head counselors as they plan purposeful, theme-based, hands-on outdoor and classroom experiences for 4th through 6th graders in Nature Science Expedition. Potomac’s beautiful 90+ acre campus vibrant ecosystems allows Nature Science campers to have inspiring opportunities to work together, explore, and better understand the world around them. As a small specialty camp, the Nature Science experience allows campers to form a community of new friends in a structured environment.
Nature Science Expedition
From squid dissections, to stream studies and dam-building, to bee keeping, rising 4th – 6th grade Nature Science Expedition campers work collaboratively to solve problems and make discoveries about the natural world around them. The Expedition level curriculum takes an interdisciplinary approach to studying ecosystems and organisms, while emphasizing the use of natural resources for responsible use and design. All of these experiences offer the avid learner unique opportunities to expand their understanding of our natural world.
Each day is purposefully planned and includes daily instructional swimming as an added bonus. Expedition Level is perfect for the budding scientist ready for a new challenge and lots of fun.
