Explore and delve into a favorite subject area or learn about one that is new to you. This highly interactive and engaging camp will give curious campers the in depth knowledge they’ve been yearning for! Each weekly camp will be offered two times during the summer. We suggest taking each of the subjects one time only, as projects will be repeated at the subsequent session. Camps may include an on-campus water activity and/or an off-campus field trip.
EXPLORE! Design, Create, Innovate
Will a boat you build survive a violent storm on the seas? Can you invent a way for someone on crutches to carry their own books? Can you design the fastest car? Do you like to create, build and creatively solve everyday problems? If you like taking everyday materials and using them to design your own creations, this is the camp for you! Put your creative and innovative skills to use as you take on different challenges throughout the week to build vehicles and structures. Campers also take a field trip to the American History Museum’s Spark!Lab and inventions wing. And on Friday, be sure to bring your swimsuit and towel for a water activity/pool time.
EXPLORE! Magic, Mysteries and More
Have you ever wondered if the Loch Ness Monster is real? Would you like to be a detective who pieces together clues to figure out “whodunit”? Do you love wowing people with magic tricks? If so, this is the camp for you! Each day will be packed full of fun as we explore a real life mystery (think Loch Ness Monster, Stonehenge, UFOs, Easter Island, etc.), examine clues to solve a mystery of our own, and learn a new magic trick to take home and share with friends and family. Campers also take a field trip. And on Friday, be sure to bring your swimsuit and towel for a water activity/pool time. The magic and mystery awaits you!
EXPLORE! Energy, Force and Motion
Calling all science lovers! Join us as we explore potential and kinetic energy through the use of model roller coasters, dominoes and more! Our young physicists will learn about the forces of gravity and magnetism through hands-on, interactive activities. Campers will investigate what causes motion, and will experiment with variables to see their effect on an object’s motion. Campers also take a bowling or mini-golf field trip (depending on the weather). And on Friday, be sure to bring your swimsuit and towel for a water activity/pool time. Come and put your “Energy” into “Motion” with us!
