The Handwork Studio Robotics, Coding & Creativity Studio divides each program into an art-based multi-dimensional approach to develop a solid foundation for learning STEAM. Each week, campers will dive into investigating the program’s theme, learn to code and program their robot. Campers will utilize on-screen Blockly coding and color-coding. All campers will craft environments for their robots to interact with using a variety of art mediums. Engaging both left and right side of the brain will help camper’s become critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers; embracing art, coding and robotics in one camp.
Animal Science: (June 21-24, 4-day week only) (WAITLIST ONLY)
What if we told you that humans have a way to study animal behavior and that robotics is the key to making it happen? With art and creativity combined, your future scientist will learn about robotics role in animal science and how research impacts the lives of animals. Campers will be whisked off to the depths of the oceans, traverse across expansive deserts and blend in with their habitats to learn about wildlife. Thanks to the help of their robot, they’ll move throughout the world in a way that’s not just fascinating but fun. Campers will construct 3D paper models of the depths of the Pacific Ocean or the vastness of the Sahara Desert and code their robots to interact with a variety of ecological settings. This camp will be a roaring good time!
Pac-Man to Pokémon (July 5-8, 4-day week only) (WAITLIST ONLY)
Time travel is on the agenda as we transport to where it all began for the ultimate inspiration. From the flickering pixels of Pac-Man’s ghostly enemies to Pokémon battles, campers will learn the science behind game fun and how to conceptualize and turn their ideas into reality. Combining color and Blockly coding, turbo-powered imaginations and crafting techniques to build world of their own imagination, campers will design and craft physical 3D environments for their robots to body proportions color-coding play in real life! It’s not game over in this camp until the last boss is defeated!
NASA to Star Wars: (July 18-22) (WAITLIST ONLY)
Get ready to suit up for a cosmic adventure like no other. This fun and inspiring camp voyages through outer space. Campers will learn excellent, hands-on design and programming concepts that engineers at NASA use to create robots to explore the galactic world. Not only will campers learn the role robotics plays in space exploration, but they will also learn to code and program their robot in two ways: screen free with colors and Blockly coding using a tablet while building their own celestial environments. With a combination of learning the science and history behind space travel, creativity, crafting skills and learning to code, what better way to help your child understand the universe than through fun and engaging activities. Join us for an experience that is out of this world.
