The Robotics, Coding & Creativity Studio uses an art-based multidimensional approach to develop a solid foundation for learning STEAM concepts. Engaging the left and right sides of the brain, these programs help campers become critical thinkers and creative problem-solvers as they engage with art, coding, building, and robotics. Each week, campers will investigate the program’s theme, develop artistic and creative skills, and learn to code with an Ozobot.
Superpowered Adventures (June 20-23)
Is it a bird? Is it a plane? No, it’s a robot! In this weeklong dash to save the world, campers apply robotics and coding concepts to turn their Blockly coded Ozobot into the hero we need! Each day, our Ozobot hero comes face-to-face with diabolical villains, always up to no good. It’s up to the campers to create a hero persona for their Ozobot to sabotage the evil plans before it’s too late. Throughout this program, campers will use Google Blockly to code their robots to flex their creative powers to help save the world. At the end of the week, campers show off their most innovative routines that will be sure to scare the villains back to the holes, caves, or planets from whence they came.
Filmmakers (June 26-30)
Lights! Camera! Robots? That’s right, robots are going to be the center of the action in this program! Campers go behind the scenes of filmmaking in this program that combines the elements of moviemaking with a robot thespian! Working in groups, campers write, direct, and film a masterpiece that stars Ozobots. Campers are guided through the process to develop a short story, assemble the production crew, and learn coding concepts through Blockly to direct their Ozobots. Learning simple filming and editing techniques will be part of the process too. To culminate the week campers will make their directorial debut in the end-of-week showcase and then take with them a copy of their film to share with audiences far and wide. After the screening, you will wonder if robots can win an Oscar!
