The Summer@Potomac Experience

Summer@Potomac combines the excellence of The Potomac School with the energy and enchantment of the summer season.

For more than 50 years, children have come to Potomac for programs that encourage campers to explore, create, discover, and learn. Traditional camps provide a mix of active, creative, indoor and outdoor activities; specialized camps include interest areas such as technology, sports, cooking, outdoor skills, swimming, musical theater, sewing, nature and more! We offer traditional and specialized camps for ages 5 to 15.

Top Teachers & Counselors

Each of our Head Counselors meets or exceeds the Virginia Department of Social Services requirements for “Lead Teacher,” and many have more than 10 years of classroom teaching experience. College and high school students with strong mentoring skills serve as assistants in most of the camp groups. The quality of instruction and the low camper-to-staff ratio enable children to enjoy a challenging, energizing summer experience.

First-Class Facilities

The School’s 90-acre campus is located 3 miles from Washington, DC, in McLean, Virginia – just five minutes from the Chain Bridge. Our woods, streams, ponds and nature trails provide an ideal setting for exploration and discovery. Outdoor activities make use of the swimming pools, playgrounds and sports fields. Indoor activities take place in state-of-the-art classrooms, gyms, computer and science labs. There is no food service so campers bring a bag lunch each day.

Camp Bus Service

Our free, extensive bus and shuttle service makes Summer@Potomac accessible to children throughout the Washington metro area. All campers entering grades one and higher must use our free bus service to-and-from campus during camp hours due to Fairfax County traffic restrictions.
