These popular SPARK Academy camps will build your campers financial literacy through a variety of business strategies! No matter what the topic, by the end of the week each camper will gain knowledge, new skills and appreciate different aspects of the financial world. Weather and activities permitting, teachers hope to spend some of the time outside.
Young Diplomats: 6/21 – 6/24; 7/18 – 7/22
In today’s increasingly interconnected world, this camp helps kids develop a global mindset and build international awareness early in life. Campers learn about cultural differences across countries (e.g., clothes, traditions, languages), play geography games, examine foreign currencies and learn the role of international institutions, such as the UN. Students develop their public speaking skills and develop self-confidence, as they discuss important global issues, like poverty or the environment. The camp day includes activity breaks and playtime outside.
First Lemonade Stand: 6/27 – 7/1; 7/25 – 7/29
Let’s sell lemonade! Young campers become “lemonade entrepreneurs” and learn how to make yummy lemonade and earn money selling it! From designing marketing flyers to estimating profits to experimenting with recipes, campers have fun all week while developing business savvy. Campers participatE in an internal marketplace where they take turns as buyers and sellers. Camp includes activity breaks and playtime outside.e
Young Philanthropists: 7/5 – 7/8
Campers internalize the benefits of doing well and doing good, reviewing a number of charities and discussing the merits of giving back. Learning how prominent figures like Bill Gates leverage their success to make a difference in the world serves as motivation and inspiration. Campers collaborate in small teams to select a charity or issue they feel passionate about, and come up with practical ways they can support that cause, including raising awareness, volunteering, and fundraising. The camp day includes activity breaks and playtime outside.
Dollars & Sense: 7/11 – 7/15
Earn, save, spend, donate! Let’s learn about money! This innovative program provides a solid foundation on financial literacy for kids in a fully interactive setting. Games and hands-on activities help students internalize key concepts (like money, budgeting and saving) in a fun and supportive environment fostering teamwork. The camp day includes activity breaks and playtime outside.
Money Math: 8/1 – 8/5
Designed for our youngest campers, this innovative foundation on financial literacy also serves as a practical math environment where campers learn and reinforce computational skills, while developing a mindset for healthy financial habits. From playing money math games to learning about budgeting through engaging activities, campers have fun while they enhance their “real life” math skills!
