Musical Theater
Grades 5 -8, Session 1: June 24 – July 12 and Session 2: July 15 – August 2
Sessions 1 and 2: Waitlist
In session 1 beauty is in the eye of the ogre in Shrek The Musical JR. It’s a “big bright beautiful world” as everyone’s favorite ogre, Shrek, leads a cast of fairytale misfits on an adventure to rescue a princess and find true acceptance.
In session 2 campers will tell the story of Buddy, a young orphan, who mistakenly crawls into Santa’s bag of gifts and is transported to the North Pole in Elf, Jr. The would-be elf is raised, unaware that he is actually a human, until his enormous size and poor toy-making abilities cause him to face the truth.
Campers will engage in breakout sessions focused on acting, dance, singing and movement, as well as stagecraft, costuming, makeup and more. Each session will culminate with a Thursday evening performance for friends and family, and Friday daytime performances for fellow campers.
This program is director by Potomac’s own Mia Fisher Phillips, Head of Theater, and Jerry Rich, Music Director for the US Musical.
